a. How did the process of working on your PGP benefit you as a teacher?
As a teacher, I learned multiple things from my professional growth plan. Not being in the classroom anymore limits my opportunity for professional development. To prepare myself to teach student and teachers the best ways to research online I attended a Power Searching with Google class online, attended a webinar entitled, “What’s Wrong with Wikipedia, and poured over a Pew Research Center on “How Teens Do Research in a Digital World”. All of these professional development sessions were beneficial in helping me to combine presentations to assist both teachers and students in the art of researching online. All of the research was eye-opening, and hit the core of how we need to prepare students to be 21st century learners.
With the implementation of Common Core, researching skills are going to be essential to a student’s success in every subject area. I also, personally learned a lot about myself and how I research. I have taken many of the skills I learned through this PGP and used them to better myself as both a teacher and a life-long learner.
